At Southside Virginia Community College, our students are cut out for success. We illustrate this using life-sized cardboard cut outs of some of our successful students. These are fabulous examples of just a handful of our students who were cut out for success. These students learned that at SVCC, the knowledge and skills needed to accomplish their educational goals were right here, in Southside Virginia. Without having to venture too far, these students have been able to go far in their careers and accomplish much. Are you “cut out” for success? Of course, you are!!

WISE and Make It Happen offered a session on local health concerns in our service region. The guest presenter was Mrs. Aleisha Manson, RN, BSN, MSHA, Public Health Nurse Manager from the Virginia Department of Health.
The 4th Annual Student Ambassador Retreat was held on Friday, October 19th. Ambassadors from the Christanna Campus, John H. Daniel Campus and SVEC-Emporia participated in interactive professional development sessions offered by the college's staff and administration.
A Bluestone High School graduate, Raven chose SVCC because "it has a variety of programs to choose from which makes it worth while."
Southside Virginia Community College will sponsor an event “Career Options for Women Interested in Technology” on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Lake Country Advanced Knowledge Center located at 118 East Danville Street, South Hill, VA 23970. The event will feature dinner at 5:30 p.m. and a panel discussion at 6 p.m. The members of the panel are women working in the Information Technology Industry. There will be an overview of career options in the computer and technology fields.
During his tenure, Dr. Roberts has overseen the development of the extremely popular Power Line Worker Program.
Abilene Motor Express recently donated a 53’ trailer to the Truck Driver Training School at Southside Virginia Community College.

A Richmond native, Polly Lundy graduated from St. Gertrude High School, but relocated to South Hill in order to pursue her career as a nurse.

As a Family & Community Partnerships Manager for STEPS Inc. Head Start Program, Gloria Lockett attended Prince Edward High School, completing her high school education with her GED.
The Taste of Brunswick Festival Scheduled for Saturday, October 13, 2018, has been canceled due to the threat of heavy rainfall causing muddy conditions.
Students from the Daniel Campus recently visited the Library of Virginia in Richmond to tour and see a presentation on African American World War I soldiers.
Coming in November to Southside Virginia Community College. Truck Driver Training will be offered at Pickett Park in Blackstone as well as South Boston. Train now for a great well-paying job. The class will begin on November 5, 2018 in Blackstone, and November 12, 2018 in South Boston. These classes will run for six weeks, Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. at each facility.
