SVCC Group Tours New York
Southside Virginia Community sponsored a trip to New York, December 4-7th. The group pictured below (not in order) enjoyed 4 days and 3 nights touring Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, Wall Street, Statue of Liberty and Christmas shopping in “The Big Apple.”
Travelers included : Blanche and Larry Griffin, Warren and June Nichols, Inge and John Hrubos, Mary and Kyler Reed, Charles and Loretta Vaughan, Patricia and James Kidd, Jonette and Maurice Talbott, Leslie and Michael Puryear, along with Irene Baird, Lea Warren, Amelia Poythress ,Carol Locke, Dorothy Fox, Rachel Cofer, Judy Moody, Melissa Arthur, Kacee Crews, Debbie Walker, Tina Englebright, Cathy and Sasha Doss, Kim Snead, Cindy Watson, Mary Evelyn Hines, Betty Poythresss, Kim Perry, Amy Seamster, Kevan Sherman, Donna Overton, Lynn Lucy, Renate’ Glynn, Patty Mayer, Morgan Elmore and Virginia Myrick, Louise Ogburn and Nancy Turner, Group Leaders .
The group welcomed the traveling sisters, Ina Wilson from Midlothian, Lucy Allgood and Polly Piercy from South Hill and Elsie Dugger from Brodnax. Veterans Larry Griffin, Bracey, John Hrubos, Farmville and Kyler Reed from Green Bay gave a moving tribute in honor and memory of Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941.
