Students to Participate in "We the People" competition

A group of students in the Brunswick High School U.S. History 121/122 and U.S. Government 211/212 dual enrollment courses will be participating in the statewide “We the People” competition on February 7, 2014, in Williamsburg.

This group placed first in their district and regional rounds. Their onsite instructor is Rachelle Hawkins-Wesson.

The “We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution Program” promotes civic competence and responsibility among the nation’s upper elementary and secondary students. The “We the People” curriculum promotes interactive strategies in the simulated congressional hearing environment.

Since its inception in 1987, more than 28 million students and 75,000 educators have participated in the We the People Program.
