Martessia Hill serves as the Training Specialist for JEB Little Creek/Fort Story Child & Youth Programs with the Department of Navy in VA Beach, VA. She’s responsible for providing in-service trainings to staff and ensuring that the programs are inspection ready at all times. In this
position, she has the opportunity to travel with her team to several Naval Bases throughout the U.S. providing training, updates on safety policies/procedures and best practices.
Martessia grew up in Brunswick County and graduated from Brunswick Senior High School in 1984. She began her college career at Southside Virginia Community College earning an Associate of Arts and Science Degree in Business Administration. While attending SVCC, she played on the Tennis team and won a trophy. Her most memorable person at SVCC was her work study supervisor, Carolyn Stone. She was a great supervisor, always upbeat and made the work environment fun.
Martessia transferred to Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA and completed a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Human Services Counseling and Business Management. She began her career as a team leader at the Hampton Roads Child Development Center in Norfolk, VA and moved up the chain to becoming the Director for Dam Neck Child Development Center in Virginia Beach, VA.
Martessia is an active, life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
