The Southside Virginia Community College mens’ basketball team captured a pair of wins over the weekend to improve to 10-7 on the season. SVCC topped Germanna CC 105-77 on Saturday and followed that up with a 93-79 victory over Stillwater Christian on Sunday. SVCC jumped out to a 12-7 lead at the 15:44 mark of the first half against Stillwater on a trey by Ricardo Sullivan.
A trey by Ike Brandon and a bucket by KJ Reagans gave the Panthers a 22-16 lead at the 9:25 mark. Amp Harris hit back-to-back buckets and Reagans hit a trey and then completed a 3-point play as the local team took a 39-27 lead to the halftime break. Reagans hit two treys over the course of a minute early in the second half to give SVCC a 48-29 lead at the 17:03 mark.
The local team continued to pour it on as a bucket by Kendall and a big dunk by Mike Jones extended the lead to 73-35 at the 10:13 mark and SVCC cruised down the stretch to the victory. Reagans led a balanced SVCC scoring attack with 20 points and four assists while Sullivan scored 19 points with five assists. Harris finished with 12 points and four rebounds while Jackson tallied 10 points and grabbed five rebounds.
SVCC will play host to Washington Academy for a big contest on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.

SVCC went to work early as KJ Reagans hit back-to-back treys for an 11-7 lead at the 15:30 mark of the first half. Amp Harris hit two treys and Terrell Carden added another for a 33-15 lead at the 10:04 mark of the opening period. Ricardo Sullivan hit a bucket late in the first half and Reagans scored on a runner to give the team a 48-38 lead at the halftime break. SVCC broke the game open early in the second half as Sullivan hit back-to-back treys for a 76-54 lead at the 11:23 mark.
A big dunk by Michael Jackson and a bucket by Ike Brandon extended the lead to 84-56 as SVCC cruised down the stretch to the victory. Reagans led SVCC with 24 points and four steals while Sullivan scored 22 points and added seven rebounds and seven assists. Harris scored 15 points and added seven rebounds while Jackson finished with nine points and 14 rebounds.
