SVCC Snampshot

We visit with Rhina Jones, an Education Support Specialist II in Admissions and Records at SVCC

Ms. JonesHow long have you worked at SVCC?

42 years!

What other positions have you held at SVCC?

I was the Administrative Assistant to both the Vice President of Finance and the President’s Assistant for a short time before moving to Admissions and Records.

Name one thing on your bucket list.

I would love to go to Niagara Falls one day.

Who was your favorite teacher?

My favorite teacher was Daphne Copley in the sixth grade at South Hill Elementary School.  Every day after lunch, she would read us a story, acting out and giving voices to the characters.

What did you want to do when you grew up?

I actually always wanted to work in an office atmosphere.

What was your first job?

I did office work at W.R. Grace Fertilizer (now Crop Production Services) in South Hill.

Of what achievement are you most proud?

Other than being a mother and grandmother, it has to be my career at SVCC.  I’ve only ever worked at one other place!

If you could have lunch with one person, dead or alive, who would it be? What would you eat?

I would have a grilled chicken salad with Richard Gere.

What is the best book you ever read?

The Fifty Shades series.
