The Southside Virginia Community College men’s basketball team ran its winning streak to three games with a 103-87 win over the Hampden Sydney College JV’s last Monday night in Farmville.
VCC got off to a good start when KJ Reagans and Ricardo Sullivan both hit early treys and the local team took a 10-4 lead at the 17:34 mark of the first half.
Buckets by Michael Jackson and Jordan Cox extended the lead to 21-12 at the 13:56 mark.
A rebound and putback by Kendall Edwards and a trey by Cox extended the SVCC lead to 47-30 at the 4:21 mark of the first half and SVCC took a 50-41 lead to the halftime break.
Six straight points by Jackson early in the second half gave SVCC a 74-58 lead at the 12:28 mark.
The Panthers took a 91-68 lead on a trey by Ike Brandon and cruised down the stretch.
Reagans led SVCC with 23 points and added five rebounds while Jackson scored 18 points and tallied six rebounds.
Jordan Cox scored 16 points and added seven rebounds while Sullivan scored 16 points and added seven assists.
Aaron Logan finished with six points and pulled down 15 rebounds.
Brennan and Overton led the Hampden Sydney JV’s with 26 points apiece.
SVCC will travel to face Bryant & Stratton MIT in Norfolk on Saturday for a 5 p.m. tilt.
