Student Retreat

The 4th Annual Student Ambassador Retreat was held on Friday, October 19th. Ambassadors from the Christanna Campus, John H. Daniel Campus and SVEC-Emporia participated in interactive professional development sessions offered by the college's staff and administration.

Technology Event

Southside Virginia Community College will sponsor an event “Career Options for Women Interested in Technology” on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Lake Country Advanced Knowledge Center located at 118 East Danville Street, South Hill, VA 23970.  The event will feature dinner at 5:30 p.m. and a panel discussion at 6 p.m.  The members of the panel are women working in the Information Technology Industry.  There will be an overview of career options in the computer and technology fields. 

College Community Connection: Building for a Promising Future

Established in 1970, Southside Virginia Community College is one of 23 colleges in the Virginia Community College System. From its humble beginnings, the college has grown to become the leading provider of quality academic and workforce services within the largest community college jurisdiction in our state. The college’s 4,200-square mile service region spans ten counties and also encompasses the city of Emporia.

Truck Driving Training Classes Being Offered by SVCC in November

Coming in November to Southside Virginia Community College. Truck Driver Training will be offered at Pickett Park in Blackstone as well as South Boston. Train now for a great well-paying job. The class will begin on November 5, 2018 in Blackstone, and November 12, 2018 in South Boston. These classes will run for six weeks, Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.  at each facility.

Taste of Brunswick Festival

The 22nd Annual Taste of Brunswick Festival will be hosted on the Christanna Campus of Southside Virginia Community College on Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 10 am. until 4 p.m. The event is set to be held rain or shine and with the ongoing construction of the college’s new building.
