Southside Virginia Community College has again been named a "Great College to Work For" by the Chronicle of Higher Education. The school also received "Honor Roll" recognition. Of the institutions taking part, only 92 were recognized as a "Great Colleges to Work For" and only 42 achieved "Honor Roll" status.
This is the seventh year of the survey. From its inaugural year, in 2008, when 89 institutions took part, to 2014, when 278 institutions participated, the Great Colleges to Work For program has had more than 900 unique institutions take part. This year the Chronicle surveyed more than 43,500 faculty and staff members at institutions across the country.
Through the Chronicle's analysis of this year's survey results, Southside Virginia Community College received recognition in the following categories:

- Facilities, Workspace & Security
- Job Satisfaction
- Professional/Career Development Programs
- Respect & Appreciation
- Supervisor/Department Chair Relationship
