Caitlin Crowder grew up in South Hill and graduated from Park View High School. She earned her Associate degree in Registered Nursing from Southside Virginia Community College.
Before becoming a Registered Nurse, Caitlin made such a good impression while doing clinical time for an Introduction to Health Professions course, that she was offered her first job in the healthcare field as an Emergency Department Technician at Community Memorial Healthcenter (now VCU-CMH). She was only seventeen years old and had just passed the Certified Nursing Assistant boards.
After becoming an R.N., she transferred to Old Dominion University and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Caitlin continued with her studies and is scheduled to graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Master's of Science in Nursing in a few months. Still employed at VCU-CMH, Caitlin has been accepted to James Madison University's Doctorate in Nursing Practice with a focus on leadership in healthcare systems program and plans to graduate fall 2018.
Caitlin says, "attending SVCC allowed me to become a vital asset to the nursing profession. I enjoy the daily challenges of nursing. I love being a nurse. It makes my life have meaning and I look forward to a lifelong career in healthcare".
