“All in all, I was able to grow intellectually as well as learn more about myself throughout my time at SVCC. The staff and instructors genuinely cared about the well-being of all the students academically, while keeping fun activities going throughout the school year” said Heather Vaughan about her experience at Southside Virginia Community College.
A Clarksville native and graduate of Bluestone Senior High School, she received her Associate of Arts and Sciences degree in General Studies/Human Services from SVCC. She chose the local community college due to its proximity to home and the fact that it was more affordable than a four-year college.
Vaughan is currently a Customer Documentation Supervisor for a company that delivers patients' medical supplies to their homes, Home Care Delivered. She enjoys her job and plans to continue to grow with the company.
“SVCC was a great fit for me. I learned from some great instructors, met amazing classmates, built relationships with people whom I am still connected with 10 years later, worked my internship at SVCC, became a work-study student while taking classes, and then accepted a part-time job in the IT department after graduating” she said.
Now married with three children, she is happy to have obtained her degree and have a career that allows her time to watch her kids play on their sports teams and enjoy time on the lake.
