Rayven Pinckney

A Bluestone High School graduate, Raven chose SVCC because "it has a variety of programs to choose from which makes it worth while."

Once she completed her degree with SVCC, Raven transferred to Virginia State University and obtained a bachelors degree in Social Work. Working as a Family Developmental Specialist for STEPS Headstart Agency, Raven uses her outgoing and outspoken personality qualities daily. She has the goal of obtaining her master's degree in counseling education and "eventually become an advocate for women who have been victimized through domestic violence, children who are at risk, and men who have been victimized through the prison system. I plan to go on Capitol Hill and change policies, laws, projects, programs, and systems to better our community as a whole."

Raven's advice to students, "My advice for future students is to work hard, do your best, and you will succeed. Never put a time limit on your goals and dreams and no matter what they are always reach for the sky. Everyone in life has a different path and its not how long it takes you to finish the race it's but it's about finishing the race."
