Brunswick County, Virginia native Melissa Jones graduated from Brunswick Senior High School before attending Southside Virginia Community College. Within a few years of high school, she earned certificates in phlebotomy and practical nursing. SVCC's close proximity to her home and work allowed Melissa to return to the College several years later to complete her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing.
Demonstrating her skills at juggling a full schedule, Melissa is pursuing her bachelor's degree in nursing through Chamberlain College in addition to being the Assistant Director of Nursing at Dinwiddie Health and Rehab Center, mother to two boys and one girl, and wife to her husband of thirteen years, Travis Jones. She still somehow finds time to watch and cheer on the Dallas Cowboys with her family.
Melissa says of her time at SVCC, "I met so many new friends and I was well prepared for my bachelor's program. My instructors and counselors encouraged me to keep pushing, even when I was at my breaking point!"
