Cosmetology Program
Overview
Our Cosmetology Career Studies Program provides students with the essential knowledge and hands-on training needed to begin a successful career in the beauty industry. The curriculum covers all major areas of cosmetology, including hair cutting, coloring, styling, chemical services, skin care, and nail technology, with an emphasis on working with all hair types and textures. Students also receive instruction in sanitation, safety, professional development, and client relations.
As a state board preparation school, we ensure that every student is fully equipped to meet Virginia’s DPOR requirements and confident in both theory and practical skills needed to pass the State Board Cosmetology Examination. Upon completion, graduates are prepared to sit for the state board exams. After passing both exams, they can enter the workforce as licensed cosmetologists.
Cosmetology Program Structure
Our Cosmetology Program is designed as a one-year course of study, divided into three consecutive semesters: Fall, Spring, and Summer. This structured approach allows students to build their skills step by step, beginning with foundational theory and practical techniques and advancing to more complex services and state board preparation.
Throughout the year, students receive comprehensive instruction in all areas of cosmetology, including hair cutting, coloring, styling, chemical services, nail technology, and skin care. Each semester integrates classroom theory with hands-on practice to ensure students are confident and career-ready.
