Southside Virginia Community College nursing students recently helped administer COVID-19 vaccinations to community members during a clinic that was held by VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital. Within a three day span, SVCC nursing students along with VCU Health CMH staff were able to vaccinate 1500 people from the southside region.
"I've never been more proud of our students than I am today," said Dr. Michelle Edmonds, DNP, RN, Special Assistant to the VP of Academics and Workforce, Dean of Nursing, Health, and Science. "As I administered the vaccinations and watched our students do the same, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride; helping others is what nursing is all about."
The vaccination clinic was for VCU Health CMH patients and they hope to have more vaccines available in the near future. Each patient was called by VCU Health CMH staff and had their appointment time set-up prior to arriving at the clinic.
