VFW Post 8163 Establishes SVCC Scholarship to Support the Trades

 
The VFW Post 8163 Scholarship will be used to assist students from Mecklenburg County in any SVCC program related to workforce or trades.  VFW Post 8163 members recognized that there are many great paying jobs that do not require a higher learning graduate or undergraduate degree. 

VFW Post 8163 member’s goal is to be a positive and charitable presence in their community. Accordingly, they will provide two Mecklenburg County Public School (MCPS) graduating students a one-time financial award to attend workforce/vocational/trade school classes at SVCC.

The organization is looking for students that display character attributes of being: reliable, cooperative, a good communicator, confident and conscientious.

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must be enrolled in a workforce or trades class at SVCC, complete a federal student aid (FAFSA) form, and complete a SVCC Foundation scholarship application form located at:  https://southside.edu/scholarships.  To contact the SVCC Foundation, call (434) 949-1008 or email foundation@southside.edu.
