  • Berryman RN Emergency Fund

    Emergency Scholarship set up to help students in financial need. For students on Christanna Campus. In collaboration with VCU/CMH to help students in nursing from Mecklenburg, Brunswick and Lunenburg. Will pay up to $300.00. Must fill out the emergency application, copy of the bill that needs to be paid and a recommendation from faculty or an advisor. Money will be sent directly to the organization that money is owed. Please contact the Foundation for an application.

  • Brent Richey Memorial Scholarship
  • Bridgforth Student Emergency Fund

    Emergency funds for students in need. Funds are limited to $250.00. A completed application, a copy of the bill you are requesting assistance with and a recommendation from a faculty or staff member. Please contact the Foundation for an application.

  • EAGLES Scholarship

    The Emporia And Greensville Lead Everyone to Success (EAGLE) Scholarship is a public/private partnership that allows the most recent graduates of Greensville County High School to attend SVCC with no out-of-pocket tuition through a combination of federal/state financial aid and donor funding.

  • James Emmit and Ada P. Howell Memorial Scholarship

    Established by Julian M. Howell to honor his parents, this scholarship provides assistance to needy but worthy Brunswick County residents to attend Southside Virginia Community College.

  • James Solomon Russell - Saint Paul’s College Museum Scholarship Fund

    The James Solomon Russell – Saint Paul’s College Museum Scholarship Fund was established to assist with student expenses incurred while enrolled at Southside Virginia Community College. Funds can be used for tuition, books, or mandatory supplies.

     

  • Jeremiah Hamlett Memorial Scholarship

    Established by family and friends as well as “Team Bullfrog”, this scholarship supports residents from the counties servicing the John H. Daniel Campus enrolled in a transfer program.

  • Jerry and Sarah Reynolds Scholarship

    This scholarship was established by Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds, staunch supporters of education, to help support deserving students from Mecklenburg County.

     

  • John H. and Eloise B. Daniel Memorial Scholarship

    Established to assist eligible students to attend the John H. Daniel Campus of SVCC. To be eligible, student must be enrolled in a regular degree, diploma or certificate program at SVCC as a full-time student. Preference will be given to residents of Charlotte County.

     

  • John J. Cavan III Memorial Scholarship

    This scholarship was established by Dr. and Mrs. John J. Cavan in memory of their infant son.

     

  • Joseph Creighton Riepe, III Memorial Scholarship

    Established by his family, this scholarship provides assistance to students enrolled in the Nursing program. Preference is given to residents of Charlotte County, Virginia.

     

  • Joseph Williard & Bessie Keeton Hammack, James Marshall Hammack, William Lucian Hammack and Betty Jean Hammack Crockett Memorial Scholarship

    Established by Betty Jean Hammack Crockett’s husband in her and her family’s memories, this scholarship provides tuition and/or textbook assistance to qualified students. First preference is given to students in Education, General Studies or Science programs whose ultimate career goals are to be teachers.

     

  • Josh Smith Automotive Scholarship

    The Josh Smith Automotive Scholarship was established in memory of Mr. Smith by family and friends. Mr. Smith served as an Auto-Diesel Instructor at SVCC’s Occupational Technical Center at Pickett Park in Blackstone and then was selected to lead the automotive program on the John H. Daniel campus in Keysville. He was respected for his professionalism, dedication and enthusiastic willingness to help anyone who needed a hand. This scholarship provides assistance to students enrolled in SVCC’s automotive program.

     

  • Judy Shepherd Scholarship

    This scholarship was established by Ms. Shepherd, a lifelong advocate of education and Southside Virginia Community College, to help support deserving students.

     

  • Kandy Bryant Poarch Memorial Scholarship

    Established by her friends and family, this scholarship in memory of Kandy Bryant Poarch, an SVCC alum and Registered Nurse, supports students served by the Christanna Campus who are enrolled in the Associate Degree in Nursing Program.

     

  • Kitty Solari Nursing Scholarship

    Established by her brother, Bill Solari and his wife, Sylvia, to honor Kitty Solari’s dedication to her profession, the Kitty Solari Nursing Scholarship supports Mecklenburg County students attending SVCC’s nursing program.

    The Solaris are passionate supporters of the community and especially, the health care realm.

  • Lealon M. Vassar Scholarship

    The Lealon M. Vassar Scholarship, established by his family in his memory, recognizes Mr. Vassar’s contributions to the community, service to others, leadership skills, work ethic, and honesty. It provides assistance to selected students residing in Charlotte County with characteristics such as dedication to community service, hardworking, kind-hearted and willingness to help others, as demonstrated by Mr. Vassar.

     

  • Lucretia and John J. Cavan Memorial Scholarship

    This fund established by Dr. John Cavan memorializes his parents, Lucretia and John Cavan, who did not have the educational opportunities that are afforded through community colleges. The scholarship helps students to attend Southside Virginia Community College by assisting with the purchase of textbooks.

     

  • Lunenburg County Farm Bureau Agribusiness Scholarship

    Established by the Lunenburg County Farm Bureau, this scholarship provides assistance to residents of Lunenburg County who are enrolled in an agribusiness program.

  • Michael O. Walker-Benchmark Community Bank
  • Mid-Atlantic Broadband Scholarship

    Established by Mid-Atlantic Broadband Communities Corporation (MBC) to encourage participation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) related training programs and supports graduates from high schools located in the Southside Tobacco Region within the MBC footprint.

     

  • Middle College Scholarship

    Established through an area foundation interested in assisting GED graduates to pursue higher education.

     

  • Misti Garner Dunn Memorial Scholarship

    Established in memory of Misti Garner Dunn, a graduate of the Southside Virginia Community College Practical Nursing program, by her family and friends, the fund provides scholarships to eligible students to attend the SVCC Practical Nursing program. Preference is given to residents of Charlotte County.

     

  • Nottoway Route to Success in Applied Sciences Scholarship

    Established by a Nottoway County native and his wife, this scholarship is awarded to selected graduates of Nottoway County High School who are enrolled in a two-year degree program, with preference given to the Associate of Science in Industrial Technology and the Associate of Science in Information Systems Technology.

     

  • Peter Hunt Memorial Scholarship

    The Peter G. Hunt Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by his family and friends. Peter was VP of Finance and Administration at SVCC for more than 30 years and a friend and mentor to faculty, staff and students. Recipients must be residents of Brunswick, Lunenburg, Nottoway or Mecklenburg counties enrolled in nursing (PN & RN), Industrial Technology, Truck Driver Training, Power Line Worker or Diesel Technology at SVCC. Proceeds will assist with tuition, books and/or mandatory school supplies.

     

  • R.C. & Viola D. Hines Memorial Scholarship

    This textbook scholarship was established by their family to recognize their committment to and belief in the value of education. Mr. and Mrs. Hines were residents of Mecklenburg County, where Mr. Hines taught at Park View High School until his retirement. Recipients must be residents of Mecklenburg County.

     

  • Randy and Debra Andrews Scholarship

    Established by the Andrews Family, longtime supporters of the College and the Foundation, this scholarship provides assistance with textbook expenses.

     

  • Ray Kopecky Memorial Textbook Scholarship

    Established by family and friends, this scholarship recognizes Mr. Kopecky’s dedication as a SVCC faculty member and supports students enrolled in the College’s transfer program that is STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) related.

     

  • Richard V. Taylor Memorial Scholarship

    Established by friends and co-workers in memory of Mr. Taylor, a dedicated SVCC employee, this scholarship supports residents from the counties serving the Christanna Campus.

     

  • Robert C. Wrenn Scholarship

    Established by the estate of Maylia G. Rightmire, this scholarship is named in honor of SVCC Foundation President Robert C. Wrenn and assists students enrolled in the Nursing program who are residents of Emporia or Greensville County.

     

  • Robert G. Patton Scholarship

    Established by Chad Patton in his father’s memory, this scholarship provides assistance to adult education students who are seeking or have obtained their General Educational Development (GED) diploma and have an interest in a post-secondary education.

     

  • Samuel Waverly Putney, Jr. and Grace Waring Putney Scholarship

    Established to assist students who meet the following criteria: a graduate of Prince Edward County High School with a minimum graduating GPA of 2.5, enrolled as a full-time student at Southside Virginia Community College in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) related program.

     

  • Sergeant James F. Whitlow Memorial Scholarship

    Established in memory of James F. Whitlow, who served with the Kenbridge Police Department for over 30 years, by his daughter, Cassandra Whitlow Smith. Sergeant Whitlow was also a member of the National Police Bloodhound Association and served on the Governor’s Drug Task Force. It provides scholarships to students enrolled in the Administration of Justice program on the Christanna Campus. Preference is given to residents of Lunenburg County.

     

  • Shelton H. Short, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

    Established in recognition of Mr. Short, a staunch supporter of education.

     

  • Shentel Foundation Scholarship

    Established by the Shentel Foundation for first-year community college students within Shentel’s service area who graduated high school with a 3.0 or better grade point average.

     

  • Southside Careers Scholarship

    The Southside Careers Scholarship supports students who are working toward academic and other credentials required to embark on careers in STEM-H (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Healthcare) and Advanced Manufacturing.

     

  • The Neall Family Charitable Foundation Scholarship

    Established by the Neall Family Charitable Foundation, this scholarship provides support to students with financial need who are enrolled full-time (12 credit hours) and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0.

     

  • VCU/CMH Scholarship

    The VCU/CMH Scholarship was funded to support students from Mecklenburg County who are in the Nursing program.

     

  • Michael O. Walker Benchmark Community Bank Scholarship

    The Michael O. Walker Benchmark Community Bank Scholarship was established in honor of Michael O. Walker and his service to the community and to Benchmark Community Bank as President and CEO.

    Recipients will be residents of the college’s service area who are from communities served by Benchmark Community Bank. Preference will also be given to applicants who serve their community through volunteer activities.

  • Micron Opportunity Fund

    The Micron Opportunity Fund was created from funding received through the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education to advance equity in STEM-related fields.
