DLA, a department in the University Libraries at Virginia Tech, evolved from the Scholarly Communications Project (SCP) begun in 1989. Project's focus is to work with the university community to host born-digital works, beginning in 1991 with the faculty-edited electronic journals. In 1995 included electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) completed by VT graduate students.
