Comprehensive scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 5,500 full-text periodicals, including more than 4,600 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 9,500 journals and a total of more than 10,000 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc. The database features PDF content going back as far as 1887, with the majority of full-text titles in native (searchable) PDF format. Searchable cited references are provided for nearly 1,000 journals.

AP NewsMonitor Collection

EBSCO's AP News provides near real-time access to top world-wide news from Associated Press on a continuous basis. This content is monitored by EBSCO and relevant results are provided when users enter searches in EBSCOhost. This collection includes AP Top News, WorldStream, Financial News, AP Online, U.S. Politics & Government and 50 State Reports. End users can immediately access the full text of the NewsMonitor-delivered web content, by following the link in the record. The index to the full text content in AP News is held for a rolling 30-day archive by EBSCO, so users can enjoy the previous 30 days of news relating to their search interests.

Congressional Digest

Early in the last century, suffragette Alice Gram Robinson realized that discerning students of the legislative process had few places to turn to for, in her words, “an impartial view of controversial issues.” With the launch of Congressional Digest in 1921, Robinson pioneered what was to become an enduring publication format: the even-handed presentation of opposing views on contentious national questions, Pro & Con. Alice Gram Robinson’s vision of neutral analysis of current controversies is as essential to elevating policy debates in the era of 24/7 cable chatter as trusted, independent journalism was to offsetting a sensationalistic and censored press in the early twentieth century. Today, under the Congressional Digest banner, students, teachers, librarians, policymakers, and other concerned citizens still have a time-honored, impartial source for information on controversial topics – with no agenda beyond the promotion of independent thought and a well-informed electorate.

Digital Library and Archives (DLA)

DLA, a department in the University Libraries at Virginia Tech, evolved from the Scholarly Communications Project (SCP) begun in 1989. Project's focus is to work with the university community to host born-digital works, beginning in 1991 with the faculty-edited electronic journals. In 1995 included electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) completed by VT graduate students. In 1996 SCP and the Special Collections Department merged to enhance access to rare books, manuscript collections, and the University Archives
