Gas Metal Arc Welding Process (GMAW)

Overview

The FastForward welding course consists of 80 hours of training in welding safety, general welding shop practice, and the Gas Metal Arc Welding Process (GMAW a.k.a. MIG).  The focus of this program is to advance a student's welding skill to a level where he or she can successfully pass a GMAW welder qualification test in the flat position to AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code- Steel.

  • Safety
  • Gas Metal Arc Welding Process (GMAW a.k.a. MIG)
  • Routine equipment maintenance
  • Troubleshooting
  • Metal Preparation
  • AWS guidelines
  • Technique and proficiency in fillet welds in the flat and horizontal positions
  • Technique and proficiency in groove welds in the flat position
