Respiratory Therapy Program
Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) has partnered with JS Reynolds Community College (JSRCC) to offer a Respiratory Therapy Program

The Health Sciences Career Studies Certificate (CSC) Respiratory Therapy Track at Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) is designed to prepare students for guided admission into the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Respiratory Therapy Program at Reynolds Community College (JSRCC). Through a partnership between SVCC and JSRCC, students are provided academic advising, transfer assistance, and program guidance to ensure a smooth transition.
The curriculum includes foundational coursework in college success, English composition, psychology, ethics, and human anatomy and physiology, totaling a minimum of 18 credits. Students must demonstrate college readiness through transcript review or informed self-placement and may be advised to complete corequisite support courses if needed.
Upon completion, students will be academically prepared to continue their education in respiratory therapy and pursue a career in the health sciences.
SVCC is collaborating with VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital (CMH) to provide access to a local skills lab for students who complete the CSC Respiratory Therapy Track and continue into the Reynolds Community College Respiratory Therapy Program. This partnership will allow students to complete required skills practice within SVCC’s service area, supporting convenience and continuity for our students. Additionally, clinical sites are already established within the service region, ensuring that students can complete both their classroom and clinical requirements close to home.
